You’re not going to believe this, and don’t tell anyone, but Taco Bell© is spicy. That’s right, you heard me. Taco Bell© is spicy. Oh, I’m not talking about their flaming hot sauce. I’m talking their plain old, ground beef, taco meat. And, I no longer eat it in polite company.
There was a time when I loved spicy foods. Not the kind that blows the top of your head off, but I nice little burn, enough that makes your taste buds stand up and shout. A nice spicy chili, especially my dad’s, was a nice belly-warmer on a cold day. Or a friend’s delicious home-made salsa, complete with home-grown chilies, with a margarita was ideal on a hot summer day.
Then came menopause. Here are the lessons I’ve learned:
- Do not bring that delicious Pho bowl to work and eat it in your cubicle, or you’ll embarrass yourself.
- Always ask for pico de gallo on the side, or you’ll embarrass yourself.
- If you even think you might be eating something spicy, do not leave home without hair products to repair yourself, or you’ll embarrass yourself.
- If you encounter something spicy immediately ask for more napkins, or you’ll embarrass yourself.
- Always travel with plenty of tissues in case you encounter something spicy, or you’ll embarrass yourself.
There was a time when I laughed at people who said Taco Bell© was spicy….bunch of lightweights. Gimme some of that hot sauce…I’ll show you spicy. That time is no more. I enjoy Taco Bell© in the sweat-rolling privacy of my own home. And that, my friends, is Menopause….without the Pause.
