If you’re a book lover like me, you probably have stacks of books laying around or loaded up on your reading apps. But do you ever feel like, “so many books; nothing to read”? I sure do! I find myself in a rut now and then, reading the same types of books over and over. I yearn for something different. Or, I take a swing through my “to be read” list only to find nothing trips my trigger.
My best source for a great read is a great friend. That’s right….a friend. Or sometimes it’s a co-worker, or a neighbor. There’s nothing better than getting an enthusiastic recommendation from someone who’s read the book – a real someone who spun the wheel for the chance that a book would be terrific….and won! And when they gush about it, you know it’s gotta be great.
So, my friend, here’s my Fab 5: Twist Fiction Novels list to get you started. These books kept me on the edge of my seat, reading until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore, then eagerly returning the next day. You’re going to want to carve an entire day for non-stop reading of these babies, so gather up your blanket, grab a beverage and find yourself a cozy nook. You’re going to love them! There’s plenty more where these came from, so stay tuned.
PS – I’m not a party killer (and I don’t read last chapters first!), so the descriptions below are purposely vague. Click the links for more details on each book. As a reminder, should you purchase a book through one of these links I may receive a small commission in return and at no additional cost to you.
- The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield – classified as “gothic suspense,” this is the first novel by Diane Setterfield. Set in England, The Thirteenth Tale tells the story of a famous author, Vida Winter, the missing chapter from her famous and last book “Thirteen Tales of Change and Desperation”, and the young author she pursues to write the final chapter.
- The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware – the chance of a lifetime for travel writer, Lo Blacklock, as she boards the luxury cruise ship on its maiden voyage. It’s all glitz and glamour until she witnesses a woman being thrown overboard…or did she?
- One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern – after scandal ends her journalism career, Kitty Logan aims to tell her dying mentor’s last story through a single sheet of paper found buried in her office – a list of 100 names.
- The Charm Bracelet – by Viola Shipman – a beautiful story about family, love, loss, and the importance of keeping memories alive…all told through a charm bracelet.
- The German Girl by Armando Lucas Correa – things are not always what they seem, and sometimes life…and freedom…demands sacrifice. Take an unconventional trip from Nazi Germany to the island of Cuba on the edge of revolution, to New York City following 9/11….all in the effort to find home. This based on a true story.
